A Place To Call Home | Lyrics

A Place To Call Home
well her mother was a rocking-chair
her father was a loft
her only other kin
was an old grandfather clock
and ever since she could recall
her dreams were all of windows and doors
well her mother would rock her
grandfather tick-tock her
papa in the rafters
sang of happy-ever-afters
each in their own way
trying to make her stay
but knowing one day
she’d chase the wild wind
born upon the ocean
and fathered from a star
his mother was the moon
and he soon broke her heart
when weaned upon the wind
she found he had a taste for solid things
for he dreamed of dry land
he dreamed of the road
he dreamed up a plan
for a permanent abode
and he railed against the sky
and thrashed against the tide
but by-and-by he landed high-n-dry
oh father oh mother
i’ve travelled so far
and i’ve still got a long way to go
oh and time moves so fast
it’s all ashes and dust
and it’s over before you know
got to find me a place to call home

Beauty’s Throne
how sad
how sad
this old world
with its endless striving
to become
how sad
how sad and how beautiful
this endless struggle to rise up
and overcome
while beauty builds its throne
on a pile of bones
how sad
how sad
our days are numbered
and we count them
one by one
how sad
how sad and how beautiful
we’re risking all that we came from
to chase the sun
while beauty builds its throne
on a pile of bones

Every Little Feeling | Lyrics

Every Little Feeling
i packed my bags and i started walking
pack my bags and i’m gone
i tell myself i ain’t never coming
never coming home anymore
i saved up a few pennies for a rainy day
throwing caution to the wind and leave town
and i got no intention to be found
i gave you all that i have to give
but still you wanted more
but i got no time now for all that shit
so why don’t you just take it all
you’re rearranging deck chairs on the titanic
the party’s over and the ship’s going down
and i won’t be there to save you when you drown
i’m sick and tired of being civilised
wanna rip it up and start over again
just me and myself and a starry night
when i can remember who i am
so i tip my hat to the sun
and i hitch my cart to the moon
i’m not sure where i’m going to
but i know i’m gonna be there soon
while you’re busy writing cheques
you aint never going to cash
the world’s gone to trash
oh and now you try to pin that shit on me
well i can’t be responsible
for every little feeling that you feel
